Floral Fireworks on The Fourth Of July

It is time for Boulder’s alpine flowers to make their appearance so I headed up to Diamond Lake. The trail  starts at 10,172 feet at the Fourth of July trailhead. Note that it requires a 4 mile drive on a bumpy dirt road to get to the trailhead.  Once there, the trail climbs 768 feet during the 2.6 mile hike to the Lake. Here are some views:
